Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal data the website youparle.com and the YouParle Guided French beta collect and what happens to it. On the website the only thing we ask for is your email address. If you book a call or join Guided French, more applies: see below.
Who is responsible
Franck Burlot, sole trader operating under the name YouParle (France).
Contact: [email protected]
What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign up on the home page. There are two lists: one to get started with YouParle (install instructions, news and good practices), one for news and good practices only. Legal basis: your consent, which you give by signing up and confirming your email.
- Your booking details, when you book a call: your name, your email address and what you write in the booking form, through Proton Calendar. Legal basis: the steps you ask for before a possible contract.
- Technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited), processed by our hosting provider to deliver and protect the site, and to produce anonymous visit statistics.
If you join Guided French
- Your emails and weekly reports. You write to [email protected] and send me the report your teacher writes. I never see your course files.
- Our video sessions, on Proton Meet. I record each session to make a summary of it: the recording is turned into text on my own computer, the text is summarised with Claude (Anthropic), then the recording is deleted. I tell you at the start of each session and you can say no.
- Your payments, through Stripe. Stripe handles your card details and I never see them. I receive your name, your email address, your postal address (required on the invoice) and the payment status.
- The premium voice features. Your pronunciation is analysed on our server. Your recordings are turned into text by a speech-to-text service, and texts read aloud go to a text-to-speech service. None of them keeps your recordings or your texts.
Legal basis: the contract between us, and your consent for the session recordings.
How long we keep it
On the mailing lists, your email address is kept until you unsubscribe, using the link at the bottom of every email or by writing to us. It is then deleted from our mailing list.
For calls and Guided French:
- Booking details: until the call has taken place.
- Emails, weekly reports and session summaries: during your course, then deleted within one year after it ends.
- Session recordings: deleted once the summary is made.
- Invoices: 10 years, as French accounting law requires.
Who processes it
- Kit (Kit.com, United States): mailing list and email sending, with double opt-in.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): website hosting, security and anonymous analytics.
- YouTube (Google LLC, United States): the videos on the site. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only when you click play.
- Proton AG (Switzerland): email, call booking and video sessions.
- Stripe Payments Europe (Ireland): payments.
- Anthropic (United States): the summaries of our video sessions, made from their text.
- Voice services for the premium features: our own server, a speech-to-text provider and a text-to-speech provider. None of them keeps your recordings or your texts.
These providers may process data outside the European Union, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR (an adequacy decision, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses). We never sell your data.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. The install page remembers your current step in your browser's local storage: it never leaves your browser. The YouTube player, once you click play, is subject to YouTube's own policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing, withdraw your consent and ask for a copy of it. Write to [email protected]. You can also file a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
About the YouParle system
This policy covers the website and Guided French. The YouParle system runs on your own computer and stores your files there. It works through the AI you choose: what you share with it is handled by that AI's provider, under its own policy.
